When we first heard that The Hiding Place was being turned into a musical of all
things we couldn't imagine how it would work. After all, this is a story of suffering,
imprisonment, death. But the more we thought about it, the more it made sense. The underlying
message of the life of Corrie ten Boom and her family is that we can find joy in the midst of
tragedy. If music could capture that joy along with the grief, this was something we wanted
to encourage.
Tib and I flew to England to attend the gala opening at the Hippodrome Theatre in Manchester.
This is an immense theater and as we sat in the balcony we couldn't see an empty seat. Here's
what we wrote to friends the following day:
"..we've just had an evening we'll never forget. You hear about that make you weep
and laugh, but in this case it was absolutely true. Add to that a foot-stomping reaction to
the music and you've got a hit. How we wish Corrie had had a chance to see it herself..."
Russell House Publishing has produced an American musical version of The Hiding Place,

Another Dramatization
I had a chance to visit Warren Sager at his home in Murfreesboro, TN when we were visiting
our country songwriter son, John Scott Sherrill, (who lives of course in Nashville). Warren
has crafted an intriguing-sounding adaptation of The Hiding Place. For information
